Check the fuse. Locate the car fuse box. They are located under the hood of the car or under the steering wheel. Take a flat headed screwdriver and unscrew the lid of the fuse box. Once you do that, check to see if you can find the stereo fuse and take it out. Test it with a multimeter to see if it is blown.

When this happens, I press the power/source button, the red triangular light will turn on for maybe 5 seconds and then turn off. Help! Had a new kenwood dmx8020dabs fitted professionally into my 2008 mercedes ml. All seemed well and I paid and left. About 1/2 hr into my home bound journey the headunit screen went black, music still on .then the screen came back on. 30 secs later screen and music went off then came back on .then it all went off and stated again.

next I found the diagrams for both my model of vehicle and the kenwood and made sure I connected the right wires. I checked the fuses in case any were blown. one blew on one of my trial runs but I replaced it. I tested it in another car so the head unit is not the issue.
